#FromTheArchives A poster for the fifth annual Asian Awareness Festival in 1977. In 1979, President Jimmy Carter announced that the first week in May would be Asian American Heritage Week. From this grew the Asian Pacific American Heritage Festival, a large festival in NYC in May to celebrate the Asian-American community. This festival still happens today. Artist unknown.
