kalayaan: Opening Reception
Join us for the opening reception of kalayaan, part of KSW and Balay Kreative's virtual storytelling project, Pilipinx Virtual Histories!
Inspired by multigenerational interviews, kalayaan (till every grass blade is afire from every other) explores how underground spaces & cultures have influenced Pilipinx artists in San Francisco, & vice versa. Taking the form of an infoshop (a kind of underground space described by the Berkeley anarchist magazine Slingshot as “a cross between a radical bookstore & a movement archive”), the exhibition draws connections between artists, archives, & distribution networks circulating subversive cultures.
Join us at the infoshop! We invite you to participate as a DIY archivist, researcher, & producer.
