KSW50 GALA IS JUNE 11TH - EARLY BIRD TICKETS CLOSE MAY 11th

Kearny Street Workshop’s 50th Anniversary is around the corner, with our $50 early bird tickets closing on May 11th. Regular tickets will be available at $75.

Whether you have been to a recent event, or have been out of touch for years, KSW is  still here making artists out of community and community out of artists, building on the work of everyone who came before us and building towards everyone who will come after.

Our goal is to sustain KSW’s mission for another 5 decades and beyond.

EARLY BIRD TICKETS CLOSE MAY 11th 〰️ To Imagine is to Exist: 50 Years of KSW

On June 11th, 2022 from 5PM-9PM at The San Francisco Mint, we will take you on an intergenerational celebration of KSW over the last five decades:

  • With stunning POETRY from K-Ming Chang: author of “Bestiary” and the upcoming “Gods of Want” (One World/Random House), National Book Foundation 5 Under 35 Honoree)

  • As the host of the Asian American Jazz festival in the 90s, KSW is proud to invite JAZZ music from Francis Wong and his band.

  • Delicious SMALL BITES from caterers around the Bay Area.

  • OPEN BAR brewed by Scott Louie, wine from local sellers, and cocktails from Herna Louie

  • A SCAVENGER HUNT hosted by Kazumi Chin, which invites us to learn each other’s stories and connect the threads of our shared histories

  • An awe striking RAFFLE with prizes including tickets to museums, fitness centers, restaurants, art supplies, festivals, wine, wine and more wine.

  • The KSW Imagine AUCTION, a silent auction which will launch online on March 18th until the Gala, will host wondrous pieces of art from founder Jim Dong, Nancy Hom, Bob Hsiang, Kim Acebo Arteche, Weston Teruya and many others - If you are unable to attend the gala, buying from the auction is a wonderful way to support KSW!

  • AND a special guest DJ (TBA) to close out a glorious celebration!

This Indoor-outdoor evening will be an evening focused on rejuvenation and healing, while harkening back to KSW’s rich history.

What is San Francisco without Asian Americans? What is this country? Can art make a place for us, fight for us, heal us, vindicate us, hold us, when imperfect systems fail us? The connections we make at KSW have carried many through hard times, and have brought opportunities to artists and our communities. Help us bring this vision into the future.

Gratitudes: So much goes into an event like this, and I am deeply grateful for the work of my colleagues Jason Bayani, Michelle Lin, as well as for the leadership of the KSW Board, the support and input of Gail Atani, Jim Dong, Nancy Hom, Bob Hsiang, Raquel at SoMa Pilipinas, Desi with Kultivate Labs, the many who have given their time, their two cents or advised from their expertise: Evelyn Zhong, Emma Grover, Simon Tran, Allan Manalo, Jenifer Wofford, Weston Teruya, Angel Lobo, Gina Rosales and others. Also: Project by Project, Scott Louie, Hernia Louie, Innosanto Nagara, Steve Belale, Paloma Concordia, Robin Castel, Kristen Soller of Papalowdown Agency and many others. To our artists, raffle donors, early ticket buyers, volunteers: we are so looking forward to our shared celebration next month.

Thank you,
