Giving Tuesday: Imagine 50 More Years of KSW

Your commitment to KSW thus far has made it possible for us to build a foundation that aspires to be truly unshakeable. With your support, we can remain responsive to our communities, nimble and grounded in our values, and stable as we continue to envision and provide transformative programming. This winter, will you join our efforts imagining better futures, and support our approaching 50th year anniversary with a meaningful gift?

This past year, we continued surviving and adapting in an unprecedented global pandemic, improved the accessibility and reach of our programming through online platforms, and maintained KSW as a safe communal space for APA artists during tumultuous times. We are also witnessing the growing awareness of APA issues in mainstream media, and the rising popularity of APA-led film, music, and entertainment. In the next fifty years, we believe the need for KSW will only grow.

To imagine who we are and know where we come from is critical to building the healthier, stronger, inclusive world we all wish to live in. This is why our upcoming year of festivities are themed after our Organizing Principles:

  • RENEWAL: Our 50th Anniversary Gala will be hosted at location TBD on June 11th, 2022, a celebration focused on healing, while harkening to KSW’s rich history.

  • AUTONOMY: Our dynamic, annual multidisciplinary arts festival, APAture, will be organized by and for emerging APA artists in the Bay Area in October 2022

  • FUTURITY: An anthology of influential APA writers, poets, and visionaries reflecting on the power of art to create change—and a nod to KSW’s historic press.

  • SOLIDARITY: An exhibition from a diverse showcase of artists, calling on art and activism to build community strength, co-presented by the SF Public Library, April-August 2023

If you are in a position to give, we are asking you to support not just KSW, but everything we can imagine for our future communities. During these pivotal times, we ask that you consider increasing your donation this year, to make a deeper impact on the support we can give APA artists. Over the next year and a half, our goal is to raise $50,000, a thousand for every year we’ve operated. We need your help to continue supporting Asian Pacific American art, to help imagine and shape the future of our communities. Are you with us?
