Frank Chan was born and raised in Hayward when one had to go to San Francisco or Oakland Chinatown to get Asian groceries. After graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with Bachelor and Master's degrees in computer science, Frank fled back to the Bay Area.   He has worked at Oracle, Extricity, and most recently at BEA Systems as an Engineering Program Manager.   Frank is currently a resident of Russian Hill and serves as the city's District 3 representative on the Bicycle Advisory Committee.

Born in San Francisco 29 years ago, Nara Denning has been making no-budget art films since 2000.

As a producer, writer and sometimes actor, Bernard Fok has shepherded numerous films over the past few years.   These films have including selections that have been featured at various film festivals throughout the Bay Area.   With his collaborator, Sinohui Hinojosa, he continues to bring to life new and exciting ideas to the independent film scene - he is currently at work in pre-production for a feature film scheduled to shoot in the summer of 2007.

Karla Janeth Gallardo is 16 years old and a junior at Balboa High School She grew up and was born in San Francisco. She was always the sort of kid that was interested in a lot of things, but if you asked her what she wanted to do when she grew up, she wouldn't have an answer for you. About a year ago, Karla found the answer to that unceasing question that so many people asked her about for so long. Her answer is clear and simple now--she wants to work in filmmaking.

Yasmine Gomez is a first-time filmmaker who produced, directed, wrote, and edited her short film, Look Both Ways. She has since gained experience working locally with director James Espinas on a music video for Goh Nakamura's "Pigeon Toes."   She also worked as a production assistant for Vu T. Thu Ha's feature length film Kieu and a music video for Bantercut's "Mistake." Yasmine currently works full-time in sales and marketing for a rich media technology firm in San Francisco.

Amy Ho works mainly in the mediums of video and performance.   She is particularly interested in using art to investigate persona, individual experience, and relations between artist and audience.   Amy often includes elements of sculpture and installation in her visual imagery.   Amy graduated with a Practice of Art degree from U.C. Berkeley.

Michael Kubota is a San Francisco media art student at Balboa High School. Outside of school, he attends the Bay Area Video Coalition, where he promotes his talents in video production by creating short films.   For the past year, he has been making documentaries, PSAs, and animatics.   In his latest documentary, AzN Pride? Michael reveals the boundaries between "good" and "bad" pride.

Calvin Lee is a 16 year old San Francisco-based filmmaker. Currently attending Balboa High School c/o '07, he is taking the Communication Arts pathway to further extend his experience in filmmaking. Outside of school, Calvin is doing an internship with the Bay Area Video Coalition, where he's learning the basic skills of editing, basic camera handling, lighting setup, etc. His past films include Solecollectors , a documentary on the world of shoe collecting.   His most recent piece is called AzN Pride? and features him and his partner Michael Kubota showing how the dynamics of pride can fork into two separate spectrums.

Selina Lee is 16 years old and a senior at Mission High School who emigrated to the United States in 2004.

Kenneth Lo

M. Hasna Maznavi is currently a 4th year graduating senior at UC Berkeley, double-majoring in Mass Communications and Art Practice.   She will be applying to film schools this year to pursue her Master's degree in film directing.

Yasmin Mawaz-Khan was born in Los Angeles, CA, to an Iranian mother and a Pakistani father, and is the third in a family of six children. She has lived and studied in Iran, Pakistan, and the United States. She speaks three and a half languages: Farsi, English, Urdu, and German (being the half). She attended UC Santa Cruz and received a B.A. in Film and Digital Media in 2003.   Yasmin currently lives and works in San Francisco. She is involved in a number of projects: building the Serpent Mother with the Flaming Lotus Girls ( www.flaminglotus.com ), an interactive fire sculpture for Burning Man; a music video for Kush Arora ( www.kusharora.com ); and organizing a multimedia art show by Iranian artists.

Kirthi Nath and Amanda Davidson have been engaged in a collaborative conversation for the past 10 years. Kirthi lives in San Francisco, where she collects sounds and inscribes images underwater. Kirthi received her MFA in Visual Arts from UC San Diego and currently teaches film and video at the Bay Area Video Coalition. Amanda lives in San Francisco, where she writes and makes images underwater. Amanda is currently in the MFA writing program at SF State.

Antonette Santiago is a Filipina, born and raised in San Francisco. She has a loving family and the best friends a girl can ask for.   Antonette loves baseball and is a diehard San Francisco Giants fan.

Charles Suh is a young filmmaker and web designer who completed media training at KQED and BAVC.

Since 2005, Song Ho Tran has worked on home videos, community documentation, and commercials. The piece that he submitted is a video of a demonstration that was in response to the alleged rape of a Filipina woman by U.S. Marines in the Philippines.   Song Ho is interested in producing similar work because he feels U.S corporate media performs miserably in reporting accurate and comprehensive news that focuses on salient issues.  

Wilson Wong (writer, producer, director, actor) is an aspiring filmmaker who hails from the East Bay.   His influences are the works of Woody Allen, Richard Linklater, Wong Kar Wai, Jim Jarmusch, and all combined with everything Asian American.   His short film, "Bookstore Girl" (2003) won "Best Overall" honors at the 2003 Ohlone College Short Film and Video Festival.   Since then has co founded "Eccentrik Skeptik Productions" with his partner in crime John Fernandez.
