PunkPunk is Mark Miyake and Jing Bentley, pictured multiple times at left.

Born a San Francisco native, JING BENTLEY found herself growing up in the working class neighborhood of the Excelsior District. Not confined to the Bay Area alone, she also spent her childhood summers sweating profusely and scratching at mosquito bites in the cities of Cebu and Manila in the Philippines.

Eventually leaving home at an early age, Jing spent her teenage years furiously reading Salinger, acting up in high school, and learning to find her voice through the thriving zine and pop punk scene of the Bay Area in the late 1990s. At 27 years of age now, she finds herself full circle
– making zines still, listening to pop punk gone emo and helping others find a way to express themselves through a simple formula of staples and Xerox.

MARK MIYAKE comes from the most isolated island chain in the world. He's also lived in Washington DC and Chicago, finally settling on San Francisco for the time being. He likes making things. Aside from schooling, some at Georgetown and then at the Art Institute of Chicago, he's dabbled in printmaking and writing. He does a zine called punkpunk with Jing Bentley, which has been around since 2001 spanning four issues.
