Gene Yang : Comics/Zine

GENE YANG began drawing comic books in the fifth grade. In 1997, he received the Xeric Grant for Gordon Yamamoto and the King of the Geeks, his first comic book as an adult. He has since created a number of comics, including Duncançs Kingdom, a collaboration with Derek Kirk Kim for Image Comics. His most recent works explore the core of his identity: American Born Chinese, an online comic at Modern Tales, reflects on the Chinese-American experience through the legend of the Monkey King, while The Rosary Comic Book, published by Pauline Books and Media, adapts a popular Roman Catholic prayer to the comics medium. Gene currently resides in Oakland, California with his lovely wife Theresa.
