KSW strategy meeting

People

Kearny Street Workshop would like you to meet two new leaders of our organization: our incoming Executive Director, Ellen Oh, and the Board President, Vid Prabhakaran

A message from the Executive Director

Dear KSW artists, friends and supporters,

I feel so fortunate to have been given this opportunity—to reinvest myself in the Bay Area Asian American community, to work with artists and create platforms that allow their unique voices to be heard, and to build an audience of passionate individuals willing to support new artistic endeavors.

Although I have lived in many places, San Francisco has always felt like home to me. The thriving Asian American community and the overwhelming appreciation for the arts (not to mention the food) make this the place I love. I am thrilled to return to the Bay Area and be part of such a vital organization.

I hope to lead KSW in some new directions while continuing to acknowledge the organization's 35-year history and solid roots. I very much look forward to meeting and working with you all.

Truly yours,
Ellen

A message from the Board President

Dear KSW Family,

I am pleased to announce some exciting new changes at Kearny Street Workshop. We have a new Executive Director, Ellen Oh, and a newly transitioned Board of Directors that are excited to team up to continue the important work of KSW.

Although much is "new," I want to be clear that we have not lost our strong connection to our roots and to those who blazed the trail before us. In our 35th year, KSW is mindful of its rich history and plans to continue to live up to its mission to produce and present art that enriches and empowers Asian Pacific American communities.

We wish to thank our outgoing Artistic Director, Samantha Chanse, on her dedicated service to KSW and the Asian Pacific American arts community. In fact, we think so highly of her that we wouldn't let her go completely. Sam has agreed to stay involved with KSW by serving on our Board of Directors.

Sam is an excellent addition to our dedicated Board. The other officers for this year are Vice President Amy Lam, Secretary Felicia Sze, and Treasurer Lyman Yip. The Board is rounded out by Chris Bucoy Brown, Samantha Chanse, Gerry Chow, Yasmine Gomez, Myron Lee, and Nirmala Nataraj. Most of us will be familiar faces to you, and expect us to reach out to the KSW family in the near future to get even better acquainted. We want to know how you think we can bring KSW to new heights. We still have room for more Board members, so please contact one of the current Board members if you are interested in joining the Board.

Finally, I'd like to say how excited we are by the new opportunities still to come. Our new Executive Director, Ellen Oh, comes to us with an extensive arts organization background, working most recently with the Sundance Film Festival and previously with the Asian Art Museum. She impressed the Board with her big ideas for KSW, as well as her energy and commitment to continue to move the organization forward.

Please join us in welcoming Ellen to the KSW family. With your participation, creativity, and contributions, we will create and achieve great things through Kearny Street Workshop!

Sincerely,
Vid Prabhakaran
